FEATURED IN THIS ISSUE:

* CHAMPIONS - SPRINTCARS
The pre-empted changing of the guard at the pinnacle of Australian Sprintcar racing has seemingly arrived with a vengeance. And with the emergence of this youth movement, coupled with record car numbers last season, the future of Speedways most popular class has never been more buoyant.

* KNOXVILLE NATIONALS HIT PARADE
Given the Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classics intrinsic international links to Iowas time-honoured FVP Knoxville Nationals, we commissioned Premier Speedway General Manager David Mills to provide a personal insight into what lures him annually to the worlds biggest dirt track event.

* CHAMPIONS V8 DIRT MODIFIEDS
Strategic steps have been undertaken by V8 Dirt Modifieds controlling body to ensure their future and stimulate growth. But their work remains ongoing as they strive for a recognised national series to showcase the exciting, wheel-hiking V8s. Nevertheless the future appears bright, especially with a new young gun at the top of the class.

* EVOLUTION FOR SURVIVAL
Faced with extinction, the Victorian Sprintcar Association has instigated drastic measures and approved an all-new GM Performance CT525 crate engine to be used in their cost-conscious VSC Sprintcars next season, along with their older spec powerplants. Will this be the saviour of the long-standing Southern class, and perhaps even a precursor for other budget sections?

* FLYING THE FLAG
Record numbers of Australian aspirants have chosen to escape our Winter in search of American racing action this year. Whether theyre competing in 410ci or 360ci Sprintcars, Late Models, Midgets, Big Block Modifieds or Micro Sprints, we salute our Aussie ambassadors.
